الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت تؤكد التزامها بالأمن السيبراني المتنامي نجاحاً في شهر التوعية بالأمن السيبراني 2023

AUB announces commitment to growing global cybersecurity

أعلنت الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت عن التزامها بتعليم الأمن السيبراني من خلال المشاركة في شهر التوعية بالأمن السيبراني العشرون. وقد أطلق شهر التوعية بالأمن السيبراني في العام 2004 ويقام في شهر تشرين الأول من كل عام. وهو المبادرة الأولى في العالم التي تهدف إلى تعزيز الوعي بالأمن السيبراني وبأفضل ممارساته. كما أنه جهد تعاوني بين الشركات والوكالات الحكومية والكليات والجامعات والجمعيات والمنظمات غير الربحية والمجتمعات المحلية والأفراد الملتزمين بتعليم أمن الإنترنت والنظم التي ترتبط به للآخرين.

 

وهذا العام في دورته العشرين، يقوم شهر التوعية بالأمن السيبراني بتسليط الضوء على أهمية الأمن السيبراني في الحياة اليومية ويشجّع الأفراد والشركات على اتخاذ خطوات مهمة في هذا المجال للأمن أونلاين.

 

ومن الأجهزة المحمولة إلى الأجهزة المنزلية المترابطة، تتدامج التكنولوجيا بعمق مع حياة الناس. وبينما يتسارع تطور التكنولوجيا، يعمل مجرمو الإنترنت بالقدر ذاته من الجهد لإيجاد طرق لاختراق التكنولوجيا وتعطيل الحياة الشخصية والتجارية. ويهدف شهر التوعية بالأمن السيبراني الذي يستمر منذ عشرين عاماً إلى إبراز بعض التحديات الناشئة الموجودة في عالم الأمن السيبراني اليوم وتقديم إرشادات واضحة قابلة للتنفيذ يمكن لأي كانوا اتباعها لإنشاء عالم رقمي آمن ومحمي لأنفسهم ولأحبائهم.

 

وفي عامه العشرين هذه السنة، يحمل شهر التوعية بالأمن السيبراني عنواناً جديداً هو “إحموا عالمنا” وتتمحور رسالته حول أربع ممارسات سيبرانية أساسية فُضلى: إنشاء كلمات مرور فريدة ومعقّدة لكل حساب والتفكير في استعمال مدير لكلمات المرور للمزيد من التسهيل، وتشغيل المصادقة متعددة العوامل على الأجهزة الشخصية وشبكات الأعمال الالكترونية، والتعرف على التصيد الاحتيالي والإبلاغ عنه – وهذا التصيّد لا يزال أحد أعمال التهديد الرئيسية التي يستخدمها مجرمو الإنترنت اليوم، وادخال التحديثات بشكل منتظم وتشغيل التحديثات التلقائية.

 

يستمر شهر التوعية بالأمن السيبراني في بناء الزخم والتأثير بهدف تزويد الجميع بالمعلومات التي يحتاجونها للبقاء أكثر أمنا وحماية أونلاين. وتفخر الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت بدعم هذه المبادرة المترامية للتوعية والتثقيف في مجال السلامة على الإنترنت والتي تدار بشكل مشترك من قبل وكالة الأمن السيبراني وأمن البنية التحتية والتحالف الوطني للأمن السيبراني.

success during Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2023

 

The American University of Beirut (AUB) announced its commitment to cybersecurity education by participating in the 20th Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Founded in 2004, Cybersecurity Awareness Month, held each October, is the world’s foremost initiative aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness and best practices. It is a collaborative effort among businesses, government agencies, colleges and universities, associations, nonprofit organizations, tribal communities, and individuals committed to educating others on online safety.

In its 20th year, Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2023 is highlighting the growing importance of cybersecurity in daily lives and encouraging individuals and businesses to take important cybersecurity steps to stay safe online.

From mobile to connected home devices, technology is deeply intertwined with people’s lives. And while the evolution of technology accelerates, cybercriminals are working just as hard to find ways to compromise technology and disrupt personal and business life. For 20 Octobers and counting, Cybersecurity Awareness Month aims to highlight some of the emerging challenges that exist in the world of cybersecurity today and provide straightforward actionable guidance that anyone can follow to create a safe and secure digital world for themselves and their loved ones.

Starting this year, the new theme of Cybersecurity Awareness Month is Secure Our World, with the main messaging revolving around four key cybersecurity best practices: creating unique and complex passwords for each account and consider using a password manager for added convenience and security; turning on multifactor authentication on personal devices and business networks; recognizing and reporting phishing – still one of the primary threat actions used by cybercriminals today; and installing updates on a regular basis and turning on automated updates.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month continues to build momentum and impact with the goal of providing everyone with the information they need to stay safer and more secure online. The American University of Beirut is proud to support this far-reaching online safety awareness and education initiative which is co-managed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the National Cybersecurity Alliance.
