اتحاد المصارف العربية يسعى إلى تشجيع المصارف العربية على حشد تريليون دولار أمريكي لتمويل التنمية المستدامة في المنطقة

المنتشر – بيروت-نيويورك، 18 أيلول/سبتمبر 2023–ما زال توفير التمويل اللازم لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة بحلول عام 2030 تحديًا رئيسيًا للمنطقة العربية. وخلال قمّة الأمم المتحدة لأهداف التنمية المستدامة المنعقدة في نيويورك، رفع اليوم اتحاد المصارف العربية التزامًا بالسعي إلى تشجيع المصارف العربية على حشد تريليون دولار أمريكي دعمًا لتنفيذ أهداف التنمية المستدامة بحلول عام 2030، وذلك بالشراكة مع لجنة الأمم المتحدة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغربي آسيا (الإسكوا).

 

وتسعى هذه المبادرة التمويلية الطموحة إلى الإسراع في تنفيذ أهداف التنمية المستدامة في كافة الدول العربية ودعم تحقيق التحولات الرئيسية اللازمة في ستة مجالات هي الحماية الاجتماعية، والطاقة، والتعليم، والنظم الغذائية، والتحول الرقمي، والتنوع البيئي، والطبيعة.

 

في هذا السياق، قال الأمين العام لاتحاد المصارف العربية وسام فتوح: “إننا نطلق هذه المبادرة اليوم لكي نساهم على قدر ما أمكن بالإجراءات التحويلية اللازمة حتى عام 2030”. وأضاف: “إنّ تضمين أهداف التنمية المستدامة في التحول الاقتصادي جوهري ويتطلب مساهمات جميع المعنيين في كافة القطاعات. ويعكس هذا الالتزام إصرارنا على دعم التنمية المستدامة في المنطقة العربية وفي جعلها واقعًا لمجتمعاتنا وأوطاننا”.

 

ومن المتوقع أن تستفيد جهات مختلفة من هذه المبادرة، منها الحكومات والمؤسسات (بما فيها المؤسسات المتناهية الصِغر والصغيرة والمتوسطة) والأسر في المنطقة العربية.

 

من جهتها، أعربت الأمينة التنفيذية للإسكوا رولا دشتي عن فخرها الكبير بالشراكة القديمة العهد مع اتحاد المصارف العربية وقالت: “نشيد بهذا الالتزام الضخم الذي يسعى لإطلاق شرارة التحول وتحقيق أثر دائم في المنطقة العربية. أما التحديات فيقابلها تصميم واستثمار متناميان، وهنا، تمثّل مبادرة اتحاد المصارف العربية خطوة تاريخية لخلق تغيير دائم والإسراع في تنفيذ أهداف التنمية المستدامة”. وأكّدت دشتي: “نؤمن أنها خطوة مربحة للجميع من شأنها نقل المنطقة نحو الازدهار وتقليص فجوة التمويل إلى حدّ هائل”.

 

وتوفر قمة الأمم المتحدة لأهداف التنمية المستدامة فرصة لتأمين الحلول المبتكرة والزخم اللازم لتغيير المسار وتحقيق الأهداف العالمية بحلول عام 2030. وستدعو جميع أصحاب الشأن إلى تسجيل مبادراتهم وخطواتهم وسياساتهم والتزاماتهم بهدف رفع مستوى الطموح للدفع نحو التحول المنشود لتحقيق هذه الأهداف.

Beirut-New York, 18 September 2023– Providing the needed finance to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 remains a key challenge for the Arab region. Today, the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) submitted at the SDG Summit in New York a commitment to encourage Arab banks to provide a target of $1 trillion in SDG financing by 2030, in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).

This ambitious financing target aims to accelerate SDG implementation in the 22 Arab States and support the achievement of the six major SDG transitions in the following areas: social protection, energy, education, food systems, digital transformation and biodiversity and nature.

“We are launching this initiative on the first day of the SDG Summit to contribute as much as possible to the transformative actions leading up to 2030,” UAB Secretary-General Wissam Fattouh said. “Integrating the SDGs into economic transformation is crucial and requires the contributions of all stakeholders across sectors. This commitment underscores our dedication to fostering sustainable development in the Arab region, making it a reality for our communities and nations,” he stressed.

Potential beneficiaries from the initiative include Governments, businesses (including micro, small and medium-sized enterprises) and households in the Arab region.

“We are immensely proud of our longstanding partnership with UAB, and we applaud their monumental commitment poised to spark transformation and drive lasting impact in the Arab region. In a landscape where challenges are met with growing resolve and investment, UAB’s dedication signifies a historic milestone towards creating lasting change and accelerating SDG implementation,” ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti underscored. “We believe it is a win-win measure for all, one that will move the region towards prosperity and narrow the financing gap extensively,” she added.

 

The SDG Summit provides an opportunity to secure the breakthroughs and momentum needed to change course and achieve the Global Goals by 2030. It will call on all stakeholders to register their initiatives, actions, policies and commitments aimed at stepping up ambition to drive the transformation needed to deliver these Goals.
