سفيرة الاتحاد الأوروبي في لبنان ساندرا دو وال تباشر مهامها

Ambassador De Waele met with Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdallah Bou Habib, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

Ambassador De Waele underlined the European Union’s long-standing partnership with Lebanon and reiterated its commitment to the Lebanese people, in light of the worsening socio-economic crisis. “I look forward to working closely with Lebanese authorities, civil society organisations and the international community to place Lebanon on the path to recovery”, she said. “The European Union continues to support the implementation of structural reforms, which would help Lebanon build strong state institutions that are accountable to their citizens. Fully operational institutions would also be beneficial for EU-Lebanon relations”, she added.

Ambassador De Waele has worked for over 25 years for the European Union, including postings in different EU Delegations, and most recently in the headquarters of the External Action Service in Brussels.

باشرت سفيرة الاتحاد الأوروبي المعينة حديثاً في لبنان، ساندرا دو وال، مهامها هذا الأسبوع.

والتقت السفيرة دو وال وزير الخارجية والمغتربين في حكومة تصريف الأعمال عبدالله بو حبيب ورئيس مجلس النواب نبيه بري ورئيس حكومة تصريف الأعمال نجيب ميقاتي.

وشددت دو وال على شراكة الاتحاد الأوروبي الطويلة الأمد مع لبنان، وأكدت التزامه تجاه الشعب اللبناني، في ضوء الأزمة الاجتماعية والاقتصادية المتفاقمة. وقالت: “إنني أتطلع إلى العمل بشكل وثيق مع السلطات اللبنانية ومنظمات المجتمع المدني والأسرة الدولية لوضع لبنان على طريق التعافي”. وأضافت أن “الاتحاد الأوروبي يستمر في دعم تنفيذ الإصلاحات الهيكلية التي من شأنها أن تساعد لبنان على بناء مؤسسات دولة قوية مسؤولة أمام مواطنيها. فالمؤسسات العاملة بكامل طاقتها ستكون مفيدة أيضاً للعلاقات بين الاتحاد الأوروبي ولبنان“.

تجدر الإشارة إلى أن السفيرة دو وال عملت لأكثر من 25 عاماً في الاتحاد الأوروبي، وقد تولت مناصب في بعثات مختلفة، وشغلت أخيراً منصباً في جهاز العمل الخارجي الأوروبي في المركز الرئيسي للاتحاد الأوروبي في بروكسل.

L’Ambassadrice De Waele a rencontré le Ministre sortant des Affaires étrangères et des émigrés Abdallah Bou Habib, le Président de la Chambre des députés Nabih Berri et le Premier Ministre sortant Najib Mikati.

L’Ambassadrice De Waele a mis l’accent sur le partenariat de longue date de l’Union européenne avec le Liban et a réitéré son engagement envers le peuple libanais, en raison de l’aggravation de la crise socio-économique. « J’ai hâte de travailler en étroite collaboration avec les autorités libanaises, la société civile et la communauté internationale pour placer le Liban sur la voie du redressement », a-t-elle déclaré. « L’Union européenne continue de soutenir la mise en œuvre de réformes structurelles, qui aideraient le Liban à se doter d’institutions étatiques solides et responsables face à leurs citoyens. Des institutions pleinement opérationnelles seraient également bénéfiques pour les relations UE-Liban », a-t-elle ajouté.

L’Ambassadrice De Waele a travaillé pendant plus de 25 ans pour l’Union européenne, notamment dans différentes délégations de l’UE, et plus récemment au siège du Service européen pour l’action extérieure à Bruxelles.
