ثمان وأربعون أستاذاً من الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت يلمعون ضمن نخبة الإثنين بالمئة الأكثر استشهاداً بأبحاثهم

صُنف 48 أستاذاً من الأساتذة المتفرغين في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت ضمن نخبة الإثنين بالمئة من الباحثين الأكثر استشهاداً بأبحاثهم في العالم، بحسب إصدار العام الجاري من قائمة البيانات السنوية المعروفة لجامعة ستانفورد بالباحثين الأعلى استشهادا ببحوثهم، والتي أطلقها في العام 2019 البروفيسور جون يوانيديس، والمعروفة باسم قوائم بيانات المؤلفين المحدثة في مجال العلوم لمؤشرات الاستشهاد البحثي الموحدة. وفي حين أن هذا التصنيف مهم، إلا أنه من الضروري التنويه بالعديد من أعضاء هيئة التعليم الآخرين في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت الذين يشاركون في مجالات بحثية حيث لا تتجلّى بوضوح مساهماتهم أو ابداعاتهم في قواعد بيانات الاستشهادات البحثية.

 

 إن هذا التصنيف هو شهادة على التزام الجامعة الثابت بالبحوث العالمية المستوى. والأساتذة الثماني والأربعون المصنّفون في القائمة ينتمون إلى ست كليات ومعاهد مختلفة في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، مما يدل على الممتازية البحثية للجامعة عبر مروحة واسعة من التخصصات: 23 من الأساتذة المصنّفين ينتمون إلى كلية الطب، 10 ينتمون إلى كلية مارون سمعان للهندسة والعمارة، 8 ينتمون إلى كلية الآداب والعلوم، 3 ينتمون إلى كلية العلوم الصحية، 3 ينتمون إلى كلية العلوم الزراعية والغذائية، وأستاذ واحد ينتمي إلى كلية سليمان العليان لإدارة الأعمال.

 

ومن ضمن أساتذة الجامعة الثماني والأربعين، 34 أستاذاً نوّه بمساهماتهم طوال مسيرتهم المهنية ويمثّلون ستّين بالمئة من نخبة الإثنين بالمئة من البحاثة الأكثر استشهاداً في لبنان في هذه الفئة. كما تم تكريم 36 من أعضاء هيئة التعليم في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت لتأثيرهم في الاستشهادات البحثية في العام 2022 وهم بذلك يمثلون 51 بالمئة من أفضل إثنين بالمئة من البحاثة الأكثر استشهاداً في لبنان في هذه الفئة.

 

إن الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت لا تزال ثابتة في التزامها بإطلاق مبادرات بحثية وإبداعية متعددة التخصصات، ودعم تطور أساتذتها والدراسات العليا فيها، وتعزيز الابتكار ونقل المعرفة، وتحقيق تأثير أوسع من خلال معالجة التحدّيات الأكبر عبئاً والتي تواجه لبنان والمنطقة وما وراءهما.

48 full-time AUB faculty members shine among

the top 2% of the world’s most cited researchers

Forty-eight full-time faculty members from the American University of Beirut (AUB) have been recognized among the world’s top 2% of most-cited researchers, according to the 2023 edition of the well-known annual database initiated in 2019 by Stanford University’s Professor John P. A. Ioannidis, known as Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators. While this recognition is significant, it is crucial to acknowledge many other faculty members at AUB who engage in fields of inquiry where the research or creative work contributions are not well reflected in citation databases.

This recognition is a testament to the university’s unwavering commitment to world-class research. The 48 faculty members come from six different faculties/schools, showcasing the university’s research excellence across a wide range of disciplines: 23 members from the Faculty of Medicine (FM), 10 from the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA), eight from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), three from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), three from the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FSFS), and one from the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB).

Within this group, 34 faculty members have been lauded for their career-long contributions, representing 60% of Lebanon’s top 2% of most-cited researchers in this category. Another 36 AUB faculty members have been distinguished for their citation impact in 2022, representing 51% of Lebanon’s top 2% of most-cited researchers in this category.
