سفراء المملكة المتحدة واستراليا واليابان والدنمارك

 اليوم يصادف عام على الغزو الروسي الوحشي غير المبرر لأوكرانيا. في تلك السنة، قُتل الآلاف من الأوكرانيين الأبرياء وأجبر الملايين على ترك منازلهم.

 

سنضيئ نحن الليلة، سفارات أستراليا والدنمارك واليابان والمملكة المتحدة، مجمّع سفاراتنا في بيروت بألوان العلم الأوكراني.

 

 ونقوم بذلك لأن بلادنا لا تتشارك مجمّع سفارات واحد فحسب وإنّما تتشارك قيماً مشتركة: احترام مبادئ ميثاق الأمم المتحدة ووحدة الأراضي وحقوق الإنسان.

 لذلك فإننا نقف بتضامن ثابت مع أوكرانيا.

 

 يدافع الأوكرانيون عن حقهم وحقنا وحق كل فرد في العيش بحرية.  نحن نثني على شجاعتهم وندعمها في مواجهة هذا العدوان. روسيا لا تستطيع أن تنجح ولن تنجح. 

 

 لطالما استخفت روسيا بأوكرانيا وخططت للاستيلاء عليها في غضون ثلاثة أيام.  بعد 365 يومًا، تُواصل أوكرانيا تحرير أراضيها وصدّ القوات الروسية. وهذا يعطي الأمل في قدرة أوكرانيا على المدى الطويل على الصمود في وجه العدوان الروسي.

 

 انه لمن المحتم أن تُحترم وحدة أراضي أوكرانيا وسيادتها وميثاق الأمم المتحدة من أجل تحقيق سلام دائم.

 

 فقد أدى الغزو الروسي إلى معاناة عالمية، لمس تداعياتها لبنان وباقي أنحاء العالم. وأثّر انعدام الأمن الغذائي على الفقراء بشكل كبير.  لا يجدر بالشعب اللبناني أن يتحمّل المزيد من المصاعب بسبب الطموحات الروسية التوسعية.

 

منذ عام مضى، كان لبنان أول دولة في الشرق الأوسط تعارض بشكل جليّ أفعال روسيا، داعماً بذلك ميثاق الأمم المتحدة وواقفاً إلى جانب أصدقاء كثيرين وغالبية المجتمع الدولي.

 

اليوم نرفع العلم الأوكراني دعماً للشعب الأوكراني وقتاله الشجاع ضد العدوان الروسي. نحن في بيروت، خمس دول من أربع قارات نتشارك بحسن جوارنا هذا المجمّع، ونقف معًا داعمين لأوكرانيا وللقيم التي تدافع عنها بشجاعة كبيرة، هي قيم نتشاركها ولبنان جميعاً.

INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY MARKS ONE YEAR SINCE RUSSIA’S FULL-SCALE INVASION OF UKRAINE

Today marks a year since the brutal, unjustified and unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine. In that year, thousands of innocent Ukrainian people have been killed, and millions forced from their homes

We, the Embassies of Australia, Denmark, Japan and the United Kingdom will tonight light up our shared Embassies’ Complex here in Beirut in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.We do so because our countries share not only a common building, but common values: respect for the principles of the UN charter, for territorial integrity and for human rights

As such we stand, in unwavering solidarity with Ukraine

The Ukrainians are defending their right, our right, and the right of everyone to live in freedom. We commend and support their bravery in the face of such aggression. Russia cannot and will not succeed

Russia has consistently underestimated Ukraine. Russia planned to seize Ukraine in three days. 365 days later, Ukraine continues to liberate territory and push back Russian forces. This gives hope for Ukraine’s long-term ability to withstand Russia’s aggression

It is imperative for a lasting peace that Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and the UN Charter must be respected
