The Embassy of Pakistan in Beirut organized a flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of Pakistan Day on March 23, 2024. The ceremony was attended by the prominent members of Pakistani community, Lebanese citizens from various walks of life, including former Lebanese Minister of Justice Mr. Elias Hanna, media representatives, as well as Embassy officials and their families. Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out. Ambassador Salman Athar raised the national flag on the occasion. 

In his address, the Ambassador emphasized the significance of the Pakistan Resolution in the struggle for independence, highlighting how it provided a clear path for the Muslims of the subcontinent towards achieving a homeland where they could enjoy freedom and a distinct identity. He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in leading the freedom movement. Additionally, the Ambassador expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for their just cause of self-determination. 

The Ambassador also reiterated the commitment of the Government of Pakistan to strengthen the bilateral relations with the brotherly Republic of Lebanon and stated that Pakistan has stood with Lebanon through thick and thin and will continue to do so

نظمت سفارة باكستان في بيروت حفل رفع العلم بمناسبة يوم باكستان في 23 آذار 2024. وحضر الحفل الجالية الباكستانية وشخصيات لبنانية من مختلف مناحي الحياة، من بينهم معالي وزير العدل السابق السيد إلياس حنّا، وممثلو وسائل الإعلام بالإضافة إلى الموظفين الرسميين في السفارة وعائلاتهم. وخلال الحفل، تم قراءة رسالتي رئيس باكستان ورئيس وزرائها، ثم ورفع السفير سلمان أطهر العلم الوطني بهذه المناسبة. 

في كلمته، شدد السفير على أهمية القرار الباكستاني في النضال من أجل الاستقلال، مسلطًا الضوء على كيف أنه مهّد طريقًا واضحًا لمسلمي شبه القارة الهندية نحو تحقيق وطن يمكّنهم من التمتع بالحرية والهوية المتميزة. كما اعترف بالدور المحوري الذي لعبه القائد الأعظم محمد علي جناح في قيادة حركة الحرية. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، أعرب السفير عن تضامنه مع شعب ولاية جامو وكشمير المحتلة من قبل القوات الهندية بشكل غير قانوني، مؤكدًا دعم باكستان الأخلاقي والسياسي والدبلوماسي الثابت لقضيتهم العادلة في تقرير المصير. 

كما أكد السفير التزام حكومة باكستان بتعزيز العلاقات الثنائية مع جمهورية لبنان الشقيقة، وذكر أن باكستان وقفت إلى جانب لبنان في السراء والضراء وستواصل القيام بذلك.
